East Indian Rosewood, Dalbergia latifolia, is a true rosewood. Since the embargo of Brazillian Rosewood has made "Brazillian" nearly impossible to get in any level of quality (at any price) Indian Rosewood has been the guitar builders alternative wood of choice. It has a lovely brown and black color and a wonderful tone. It's a bit oily so I use a special glue made for guitar building that bonds well with oily woods.
